Ilustrations Gallery

This preview of the project is insightful because it is offers an introduction into the discourse of norms, standards and generations  in a humorous and ironic artistic way .

The OHAF Collection

The of habitus and field collection- is a body of work that is visually explored as the fascinating phenomenon of ‘habitus and field' by French sociologist Pierre Bourdieu. He explains the relationship between power structure and the individual's subjectivity as well as their adaptive mechanisms. Which according to this theory suggests such an incongruence between habitus and field. The style of illustrating is identifiable as Fo.h illustrative style; we see youth cultural statements, slang and expressions while embodying the economic expectations placed upon them, creates a sense of contradiction, sarcasm and wittiness. The varied colours and facial expression and clothing suggest an ‘underdeveloped habitus for the field.

The Sociological Take

The habits such as learning crypto, wearing a tie or ‘office jargon’ one develops daily in order to be valued and properly function or belong to a particular milieu (aka field). While the field; is the embodied environment: shaped by upbringing, developed through proximity to cultural and physical environments. Whether it be academia, the corporate office or in a friend group. Those who desire and are optimistic to partake in the new milieu which I aim to explore as ‘the professional field’ which is white and blue colour work however contrasted with innocent and naive appearances which visually suggests a lack of an adequate habitus to adequately belong.
