The  autonomy of  non-human  life &  subjectivity  – Prestudy

My insides vs my outsides lol

ABSTRACT

“MY WHY: As a contemporary artist who is living in some of the most politically polarizing times, amplified by our digital devices. I find that maintaining my interest in the visual and somatically tangible form of artistic expression; such as drawing or illustrating, is a way to keep alive the tradition of art as social commentary ( REF – 3.1 Art & Activism”- fo.h portfolio text 2026 )

The collection’s thematic curation was  Inspired by sociologist David Grazin, who explored in ‘ where the wilds things aren’t’, how animal presentation and ‘nature-making’; creating a narrative around them is a vital part of zoos and even legislations in order to generate public attraction or change (FN.13) Successful environmental constructions are digestible to their target and while art may not have a deductive scientific basis or bureaucratic  legitimacy,- Art recognizes all actors  within a cultural shared space & communicated the underlying sensitivities; Around Beliefs, norms, standards and expectations – This preview project  of animals with expressions of dread, sadness and apathy – aims  to display the future of the planet at the loss of some of our most precious wildlife. Additionally  the sadness or expressions are  amplified in order to generate emotive responses to the current climate crisis outside of legislative means. ( which i express more in GB- essay #0)

A SOCIOLOGICALLY iNFOMED LINE OF QUESTIONING

  • Thus a question that can be asked is. If they cared so much about the world burning and creating legislation that limits harmful products, why do they similarly export their factories to other countries – when millions of their own populations are demating for jobs and opportunities?
  • If they care to preserve the economic and cultural exchange between counties, why is it always skewed towards one being the head and the other the tails. The one being the decider and one being subjected to the demands.
  • Why is one an immigrant and another an expat ?
  • And if they understood that animals such as lions and tigers and elephants are not native to their european landmarks why do they often use its symbols in their statues. Football teams -historical  buildings and legislative iconography ?
  • And lastly if most of the animals they care to preserve are in danger what makes the polar bear and panda at more risk then the cast and dogs that often domesticate any different ?
  • Leading research Question – Can art function  a means to reconstruct our resonance and attunement to non-human things?
